This blog first began as an outlet for me to write my thoughts in an online journal. As I continued to share my story with friends, I discovered by giving myself this outlet, I’ve also helped people who’ve felt helpless or alone from time to time during their life journey. Together we have found kindred spirits.
People also ask for help & resources. Whether it was about miscarriages, buying things, registering for gifts or planning a nursery, I helped where I could and where I couldn’t I did the research for them. This is what this blog is here for.
About our motto: Life as “We”?
I’m no longer just me. Nor is it just “us” (me & my husband). With children in our lives, life has become about them and how “we” live together as a family. Having children means you no longer plan for just you or us. You’re planning for the future of “we”. Yippy Momma is about living Life as “We” and juggling everything that comes with this life. Along the way, I hope people will find support here as they go through their different cycles of life. Whether it be planning, researching, or learning about the Life as “We”.
What does “Yippy Momma” mean?
I’ve been writing a long time and have had different online aliases and blogs, but always anonymously. Over time, I decided to share my writing more publicly.
The name “Yippy Momma” came to me one day as I was thinking about womenhood, motherhood and babyhood. “Yippy” is twofold. Before I had my own children I knew I would need to give them a Chinese name. In our culture, male children within the same generation who’s fathers are brothers are given the same Chinese middle name. In this case, that name is “Yip”. While I knew having children was not likely at the time, I held onto hope that I would some day have children all whom would be given “Yip” in their names. When Lil Man was born, that hope became realization and he became one of 13 cousins in his generation. Being Lil Man’s mom has been a miracle for me (as you can read in my blog post “Miracle of Life“. He’s my first little miracle and knowing this I always want to scream “yippee” out loud and do my happy dance. “Yippy Momma” was born representing him, his cousins and my happiness all in one. Since then, we’ve added our Lil Lady making us one happy family.
